How to Be Emotionally Healthy
from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Emotional intelligence is as important as mental intelligence in the workplace and in social settings. Flexing your emotional muscles and keeping emotionally healthy is crucial to remaining resilient and healthy in everyday life, as well as helping you to increase your connections with others.
Steps
- Monitor your emotions. Pay particular attention to when you are in a happy mood and when you are low.
- Tackle the low moods. It is very important to lift yourself out of a low mood, as it can make you sink into depression. Being extremely happy all the time is to be avoided as well, as you can miss out on the dangers around you.
- Make sure you surround yourself with positive people.
- Use auditory stimulation. Playing upbeat music and listen to things that are motivational; these are keys to being emotionally healthy.
- Use affirmations. First thing in the morning, say to yourself, ‘I love and respect myself’, it really works.
- Avoid drugs and minimize alcohol. Drugs only cause problems with your brain function and can lead to emotion instability. Alcohol will do the same if used irresponsibly.
